The third Round of the Food Wave proposals directed to partnerships made of Local Authorities and Youth Civil Society Organisations or Associations closed successfully! 6 proposals have been selected, coming from Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, France and Slovenia.
The Food Wave Call for Proposals is coordinated by ALDA with the collaboration of the project partners and in synergy with the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP) and aims to involve smaller youth organizations and local authorities in realizing actions promoting climate-friendly food consumption behaviors. It will fund the selected proposals up to 11.250 Euro, directly involving young people – between 15 and 35 years old – in six EU countries.
The proposals funded will address a number of key themes, including sustainable diets to reduce environmental impact and protect human rights, tackling food waste, promoting sustainable food education and knowledge sharing, establishing local alternative food systems, supporting local producers and territorial markets, combating climate change, and ensuring equal access to healthy, sustainable and fair food.
More than 700 young people in five European countries will be directly involved in implementing a wide range of initiatives, including communication, promotion, dissemination and awareness-raising activities. The projects will also include training and learning-by-doing activities such as intercultural cooking workshops, gardening and planting workshops, and creative activities such as food museums, bike parades and photo documentaries.
The participating partnerships will implement various activities, including communication, promotion of good practices, cooking workshops, thematic visits, flash mobs, awareness-raising public events, initiatives in schools, art contests, and initiatives to combat food waste.
Through the territorial actions promoted by the selected applicants, the project is contributing to the SDGs localization and the implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, with a specific focus on fighting hunger (SDG 2), contributing to economic growth and decent work opportunities (SDG 8), promoting responsible consumption and production patterns (SDG 12), building sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and contributing to the climate action starting from the territorial level (SDG 13).
